May 20, 2007 . Come watch my most excellent adventure to China to adopt my daughter. After two and a half years of paperwork and waiting I finally received my referral on May 2, 2007. Her name is Hong Mu Xin, born April 9, 2006, and now living at the Xinyi Social Welfare Institute, Xinyi City, Guandong, China. Below are her referral pictures.
Her name will be Eden Clarke. My maternal grandmother's name was Edens and my mother's maiden name is Clark, thus
Eden Clarke. I intend to call her Clarke. My son, Will, age 7, doesn't like Clarke and he says he will call her Eden. We'll see which sticks.
I am told to expect to travel 6-8 weeks from my referral. So I'm thinking late June or early July. Guandong province is in southern China and as far south on the globe as Cuba. Imagine how hot that will be!
I will keep you all posted of my travel hopefully with pictures and video in China if I can figure out how to do it. Hope you enjoy the ride.

Timeline
I started the adoption process in the fall of 2004. I had to wait several months before I received a single slot. When I started the CCAA (China Center of Adoption Affairs)was allowing one single for every twelve couples to adopt. My dossier was forwarded to the CCAA in September 2005 and officially logged in on October 27, 2005. Referrals are traditionally sent every month for a batch of log in dates and the CCAA posts the cut-off date on their website. This is a copy of the cut-off notice that shows the CCAA got through the log in date of November 1, 2005.
